U.S. House of Representatives Testimony

The Transportation Committee, chaired by U.S. Rep. John L. Mica (R-FL), held a legislative hearing December 7, 2011 to review H.R. 3096, the Resources and Ecosystems Sustainability, Tourist Opportunities, and Revived Economies of the Gulf Coast States Act of 2011 (RESTORE Act). Dr. Robert Weisberg, SECOORA Board Member and PI from University of South Florida, was an invited panelist. View his written and oral testimony. IOOS is a multi-agency, cooperative effort based on a continuously operating network of buoys, ships, satellites, underwater vehicles, and other platforms that routinely collect real-time data and manage historical information. These data are needed for rapid detection and timely prediction of changes in our nation's ocean and coastal waters.
